Since it was founded in 1958, TSKE has built its reputation as an environmental engineering company supported by sophisticated technologies developed through its experience in chemical and steelmaking engineering. Based on our extensive insight into design conditions and our ability to create optimal systems, we provide high-performance systems along with comprehensive solutions that address initial running costs, energy and labor conservation, safety, reliability, and other issues. TSKE has delivered more than 500 systems to customers in Japan and countries around the world, earning high marks for their performance.
Central among the diverse lineup of systems that we have built are the submerged combustion system, the solvent recovery system, and the kiln gasification system. The total number of submerged combustion systems we have delivered to date surpasses 300. We propose the right processes to match the properties of the waste liquid. In the waste liquid treatment segment, we supply submerged combustion systems and hydrochloric acid recovery systems, chiefly to the chemical industry. In the waste gas treatment segment, we have a strong track record in solvent recovery systems, packing-based gas absorption towers, and waste gas combustion systems.
In the solid waste treatment segment, we supply kiln gasification systems principally to industrial waste treatment operators. Different types of fluidized bed incineration system are used to effectively treat factory sludge, oil sludge, and sewage sludge. TSKE has sold nearly 90 solvent recovery systems, many for recovering organic solvents emitted from various resin manufacturing processes. We have also sold more than 30 kiln gasification systems, and we recently introduced a kiln with the world’s largest external diameter.
At the end of March 2005, TSKE was awarded a license for the NEO-CAT catalytic wet oxidation waste water treatment system from Nippon Shokubai Co., Ltd. We have since been focusing on sales activities to promote this system.
The NEO-CAT carries out high-efficiency catalytic liquid-phase oxidation and decomposition of chemical oxygen demand (COD) components contained in waste water. It is unique in that the treatment requires a very limited amount of energy. Particularly when the COD component concentration is 20,000 ppm or more, it is not necessary to add any new energy from outside the system. This enables a massive reduction in running costs. The system requires no legal procedure for obtaining permission for installation and very little space for installation. These features encourage adoption of the system.
In combination with the biological treatment method, the technology decomposes organic substances into acetic acid, which serves as a source of nutrition for microbes as it is supplied to biological treatment systems.
To date, more than 20 NEO-CAT systems have been delivered to Japanese and overseas customers and have been operating smoothly.
In 2007, TSKE’s volatile organic compound (VOC) purification system for pumped groundwater won a Japan Society of Industrial Machinery Manufacturers (JSIM) President’s Prize. This system treats VOCs contained in pumped groundwater by means of evaporation. It uses a special packed tower that combines the advantages of a packed tower and a tray tower for consistent treatment without diffusion into the atmosphere. Conventional packed towers required extra height, because large down-flows of untreated fluid would agitate the rising diffusion gas, generating a reverse flow on the gas side. However, the award-winning system has a plate for stopping the reverse flow of gas, to lower the volume of steam required for diffusion.
This system can be used as an absorption tower, for the opposite purpose. Its absorption operation produces ozone water in very high concentrations of 100 to 150 ppm. This resulting water is used for cleaning in the semiconductor manufacturing process, for modifying resin surfaces, and for sterilization, among other purposes.
TSKE is a pioneer in synthetic resin packings. With a brand name widely known in Japan and overseas, the Tellerette finds diverse application in absorption, diffusion, and distillation towers. TSKE has also partnered with Germany’s Raschig GmbH and South Korean company Hanbal Masstech Ltd. to market the Raschig Super-Ring high-performance, fourth-generation random packing, high-performance structured packings, trays, and other tower internals.
